Ever heard the saying “sleep when I’m dead?” or "no sleep gang"... Listen, ignore it...In the fitness arena, no sleep = no gains…. When you are fully committed to your body goals, consistent quality sleep is a requirement! Our bodies are designed to rest and without consistent rest, your muscles will not recover from the strains and pulls of exercise. According to the CDC, 1 out of 3 people do not get enough sleep.

“Sleeping less than seven hours per day is associated with an increased risk of developing chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and frequent mental distress.” (CDC, 2021).

Think about it, let's say you went to bed @ 1am and had to awake @ 6am, that's five hours of sleep. You will spend the day feeling sluggish and tired which can lead to zero motivation to exercise. Notice the domino effect. Making sure you get enough sleep can be difficult, especially if you are a night owl. You M US T practice discipline in being able to finish tasks and commitments @ certain times so that you can get extra sleep which will help your muscles grow and recover. One vital benefit of working out is that it can improve your quality of sleep by helping to reduce “sleep onset” which is the amount of time it takes for you to fall asleep. After I complete a good quality workout, I sleep like a baby. You should aim to sleep between 7 - 8 hours a day. If you have a busy schedule, sometimes squeezing in 30-minute naps can help you reach that total of 7-8 hours. So, remember, get some S L E E P! I cannot tell you how energized and refreshed I am after good night sleep.
